Field Manual is the culmination of over two decades of cross-disciplinary work—bringing together Lee’s experience in planning, brand environments, marketing, and production to form a focused, design-led consultancy. It builds on a career that has consistently explored how places communicate with people, from shaping the physical environment to delivering the systems and signs that define it. Lee studied Town Planning and Economic Development at Coventry University, specialising in sustainable development, regeneration, and the economics of place. After graduating, he spent several years working in the UK music industry before co-founding a Nottingham-based marketing agency, leading strategy and client delivery across a wide range of sectors. In 2004, he established Tenfold—a print and production company that continues to support national brands and built environment clients. Field Manual builds directly on that foundation, combining strategic thinking with real-world delivery. Lee leads on project and client management, oversees design development, and manages the manufacture and installation of signage and hoardings. Outside of work, he’s a long-suffering Nottingham Forest supporter, lead designer for club brand Renaissance, and makes bleepy house music under the name Van Allen.
